At the midnight, we took a flight from Singapore Changi Airport to London Heathrow Airport. Amazing, we have unexpectedly delicious dinner.

午夜时分，我们乘搭英国飞往伦敦（Heathrow)机场。今夜的飞机餐比我想象中还好。

16th May 2008

Early in the morning, we arrived Heathrow Terminal 4. After that, we took a subway about 1 hour to King Cross Station where the film Harry Potter was shot. From here we took a train to Cambridge to pick up our rented car.

We wondered around the vicinity of King Cross station for 2 hours in order to get cheaper train ticket during off peak hours.

About 9:50am we started our journey from King Cross Station 9 3/4 to Cambridge Railway Station. Along the journey, we saw green scenery; beside that we also saw some traditional houses. When reached Cambridge Railway Station, we went to pick-up our rented car. After that we visited Catholic Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs, King College, Great St. Mary’s Church, Fitzwilliam museum. If you have time, you can glide along the River Cam in a wooden punt.

早晨五点十五分左右，我们抵达(Heathrow) 机场第四终站。过后，我们乘搭地下铁到 King Cross Subway Station 转乘火车到Cambridge。繁忙时段，每名乘客需多付$S25。为了节省＄$100，我们在King Cross Subway Station　附近溜达，游览约两个小时。早晨9:30, 我们从　King Cross Subway Station 9 ¾ 站前往Cambridge火车站。

一路上，两旁都是绿油油一片的草原及一些传统式的建筑物。到达Cambridge火车站。取了租的车子，就开始了开车行程。从这我们参观Cambridge University, King College, Great St. Mary’s Church, Fitzwilliam museum and Catholic Church of Our Lady. 租借平底舟游康河。

From Cambridge , early in the morning, we travelled to Ely. We visited Ely Cathedral. From here we walked to marketplace, where there was a French food fair with a lot of sweet cookies. Five small cookies cost 4.50 pounds sterling. From here, we proceeded to York. Along the road, we saw huge plantation of canola. May be it was too early, the traffic was not heavy. When we arrived Doncaster, we saw many tall buildings, big shopping centers like Marks and Spencer and Primark.

Arrived York, we visited York Minster. York City Art Gallery and Castle Museum. York Minster York Minster is one of the great cathedrals of the world. The Minster is much more than a superb building. It is a site where history has been made over the centuries.
The Minster itself is an architectural masterpiece and a treasure house of stained glass.

Clifford's Tower stands as a proud symbol of the power of England's medieval kings. Originally built by William the Conqueror to subdue the rebels of the north, it was twice burned to the ground, before being rebuilt by Henry III in the 13th century. After the war, the castle became a prison.


上午6 点多，我们北上往 ELY ( 伊利 )。途中，一片片金黄色的油菜花田园呈现在眼帘, 美丽极了。参观了伊利 大教堂（ELY Cathedral）伊利镇上散发着悠闲，优雅的气息。从教堂直走可到市集广场（market place）刚好是法国食品展。五个小糕点值4.5英镑。

过后，我们往YORK　前进 。一路上，田园风光，风景宜人。可能是还早，车子也不多。直到 Doncaster　才见高楼及繁忙都市，大型购物中心。　如：Marks & Spencer ; Primark　

到了YORK（约克），参观York Minster.（ 约克大教堂） York City Art Gallery and Castle Museum。YORK（约克）约克大教堂是世界上最宏伟的建筑之一。约克大教堂的历史很悠久。教堂本身就是一件建筑的杰作，是彩色玻璃的珍宝屋。几个世纪以来，这里一直是基督教徒做礼拜的场所，教堂中回响的合唱涤荡了来宾和教徒们的心灵。

On the way to Edinburgh, we visited Middleham Castle located at Richmond. This was a dilapidated castle. But from what we saw, we could image that it was a magnificent castle.

We went to Ripon to see Ripon Cathedral.. Along the road, there was beautiful scenery, a lot of canola plantations,plam tree plantation ,and follwing animal farm.

After that we proceeded to Edinburgh. The moment we arrived, we saw historical and magnificent buildings along the road. . Edinburgh was divided into old town and new town.

In old town, we visited Edinburgh castle, but we could not enter to the castle because we late for 5 minutes. Although we were unable to get into the castle, we were able to see it from far in Hollywood Park.

前往爱丁堡途中，我们顺道参观Middleham Castle，这已是一座残破的城堡；但从残留的城堡还是可以看出它以往的宏伟。接着，到Ripon 参观Ripon 大教堂。沿途处处都见到金黄色的油菜花。形成一幅美丽的图画。接着看到的是松林，再往前，另一种景色呈现在我们的眼前。左右两旁都是农场。绿油油的草地， 一群群的绵羊，牛只，马儿。形成一幅幅美丽的画面，美极了。过后，再继续我们的行程前往爱丁堡。当一抵达爱丁堡，眼前一亮，一整排的宏伟建筑物。直叫人看呆。爱丁堡分为旧城及新城，多么雄伟的建筑物。我们参观新城的史考特纪念碑(Scatf Monumant) 古城的爱丁堡堡垒。(Edinburgh castle) 这里也曾经是苏格兰皇宫。由于迟了五分钟，我们无缘登上爱丁堡堡垒。

另一个美丽的景点是Hollywood Park.黄橙橙的黄花开满山坡，散发出一股芬芳的香味；弥漫着整个山坡上，形成一股天然的香水味。虽然之前无缘登上爱丁堡堡垒，但在这里却可眺望远处的爱丁堡堡垒

Today we proceeded to Lake District. A popular holiday destination, it is famous for its lakes and mountains. We started our journey to Windermere, Ambleside and Bowness bay steamer & pier. Visitor can connect onto Lake Windermere Steamers for a Lake Cruise, hire dinghies and feed the duck and swans.

前往Lake District途中，一路上， 美丽的风景，但我们为了赶时间，不敢掉于轻心。好几个小时的路程，终于赶到Lake District。我们到Ambleside，Bowness bay steamer & pier。 游客可乘搭游船心赏湖上景色，也可喂喂天鹅，鸭子，海鸥。

Snowdonia National Park- a place that was not in our plan, but it certainly was a beautiful and memorable site. Again due to 5 minutes late, we unable to catch the last train to Snowdonia summit. In order to fulfill our desire, we spent a night in Snowdonia. After checked in to the guesthouse, we drove to Caernarfon Castle. Caernarfon is architecturally one of the most impressive of all of the castles in Wales. It is so huge.


史诺多尼亚国家公园（Snowdonia National Park）一个不在计划行程的景点，但却让我留下美丽的回忆。当天下午，我们参观喀那芬堡。宏伟，壮观的城堡。 令人目瞪口呆。
